Initially built at Vibecon (a Y-Combinator hackathon in San Fransisco), Kipton is my latest project that aims to bring college education to underserved communities.
We got the idea while applying to colleges ourselves and noticed that an alarming number of our peers lacked knowledge on:
- How college admissions work
- What colleges look for
- Tailoring your essay to a specific college
All of this to say, colleges are starting to care less about statistics and more and more about your story, espically with the rise of AI.
So, we built an early version of Kipton during Vibecon, placed top 14 (out of ~110) and decided that this project must've been pretty good if it placed that high. Then life caught up to us and forced us to stop working on it.
