Recall is a competitive producer platform that combines skill-based competition, real-time music production, and an Elo ranking system into a single integrated experience, all built in 24 hours for the University of Arkansas's Annual Hackaton (We also built ChakraClash for last year's event)
This year's theme was "Music" (much less complex than "yin-yang") so many teams had very similar ideas. Most teams immediately thought of creating some flavor of a music recommendation app, so my team strayed away from any ideas that would recommend music based on enviroment, mood, motion, notifications, etc. (Basically any stimuli). We did think about creating an app that worked with advertisers to recommend music that purposefully guides your mood to react positively to ads, but that's extremely unethical, to say the least.
This year, we managed to build a much more complete platform, managing a marketing page, full brand design and working live demo (like actually working), all hosted via Vercel. And yet we still came in 4th 😭 (same result as last year). Seems like we're cursed to stay outside the top three, with just 1 point out of 55 separating us and 3rd place.
HOWEVER
I got an RGB Lamp as a raffle prize, so we calling it a giant win. No crazy networking this time, but I will be a student at UARK next year, so it was nice to sleep in the classrooms where I'll inevitably suffer in next year ;)
